Important for 2024+ models:

New Volkswagen Group vehicles starting from 2024 include updated security measures (UNECE R155 & R156, often referred to as "SFD2") that limit full access to all control units. OBDeleven can still communicate with the main gateway unit, but advanced features like full scans and adaptations may be restricted.
 

We’re actively working with VAG and updating our software to ensure full compatibility with these new models.

 

If you're going to use more advanced Volkswagen Group coding features, you'll need a PRO or ULTIMATE plan. PRO unlocks coding and adaptations, while ULTIMATE includes all PRO plus allows you to access nearly unlimited free One-Click Apps or even build your own – just keep in mind programming expertise is required.

One-Click Apps are our ready-made coding options designed to adjust, turn on, or disable car safety, comfort, and driving features with just a single click. No manual coding required. 

 

You can activate One-Click Apps with Credits – our in-app currency. If you are a Volkswagen Group (VAG) vehicle owner and have the ULTIMATE plan – you can access nearly unlimited One-Click Apps for free, so no Credits are required.

OBDeleven is being developed together with car manufacturers and their technical support to achieve the best performance. Thus, we have to comply with different diagnostics licensing policies of different car manufacturers.

 

While some brands offer worldwide coverage with a single entity (like Volkswagen Group), others require to sign with individual country representatives, which takes time to achieve. As a result, available features might depend on your country. Find a complete list here.

Vehicle Diagnostic Protection (also known as SFD – Schutz Fahrzeug Diagnose) is an additional security layer that requires authorization between the vehicle and manufacturer.

 

It's been introduced by Volkswagen AG to help protect vehicle owners from fraud by providing information on who and when has made modifications to their vehicles. SFD restricts functions like adaptations, coding, and parametrizations.

 

This protection applies to the models manufactured from 2020 with the MQB Evo (e.g., VW Golf 8, Škoda Octavia IV, Seat Leon IV, Audi A3 8Y, Q4) and MEB (e.g., VW ID.3, ID.4, Škoda Enyaq) platforms.

 

The control units protected by SFD include Engine Electronics, Central Electrics, Instrument Cluster, Gateway Electrics, Multimedia Unit, and more.

 

 

We've created an SFD auto-unlock feature to simplify the use of SFD protection, or, in other words – make SFD protection nearly invisible. If SFD auto-unlock is turned on and you try to change long coding, adaptation, or use One-Click Apps in a locked control unit, the OBDeleven app will automatically request the SFD token from Volkswagen servers, unlock the control unit, and apply the changes you want.
